One of the best kept secrets of the Dominican Republic is Salto del Limón. This waterfall, whose name means ‘Lemon Jump’, can be found on the Samán peninsula.
Quite far from the touristic areas of the country, it’s still not as popular as other locations. The reason for that might be that Salto del Limón cannot be accessed by car – which means that visitors have to either walk or go horse riding.
As you might be guessing already, I couldn’t leave the country without stopping over. I picked the horse option because I was looking forward to seeing the place from a different perspective – and I did.
From the moment I started the route to the waterfall, I could feel the humidity and the lush vegetation of the rainforest. The path goes down to an amazing 55 meters waterfall surrounded by the most transparent water I’ve ever seen.
I can’t recommend this place enough. In case you ever visit the Dominican Republic, you can’t miss the opportunity to visit Salto del Limón. And if you need a place to stay, Grand Palladium Bávaro Suites Resort & Spa offers you the perfect location to discover the joys of the island.
