Nueva York is one of the most visited cities in world. Last year in 2015 Nueva York got 46 million of national tourist and 12,3 million of international tourist.
One of my favorite place in this city, is Central Park with several movies and television series appearances.
This park is one of the biggest in the world and the biggest in New York, where new Yorkers and visitors go for walk, running and sunbathe. In my case, I like to jog and enjoy the meadows, artificial lakes and waterfalls views.
Central Park was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted y Calvert Vaux in the 19th century and if you haven’t been so far I recommend you a mandatory stops here.
Below, I show you which are indispensable for me.
1. TRIBUTE TO JOHN LENNON
One of the gardens is located in Strawberry Fields, a garden with a tear shape and in honor of John Lennon who was killed in the Dakota building in 1980.
The monument is a mosaic tile with the inscription:” Imagine”
The zoo of central Park is a small zoo. It started in the 1860s. The real name was Central Park Wildlife Center
Here you can find lions, pandas, leopards and penguins. Definitely, a perfect plan if you go with children!
The Jacqueline Kennedy Onassi Reservoir is my favorite place in this park, a huge reservoir surrounded by a circuit of 2.54 km, where often runners like me use to go.
Close by this lake, you can find the Fred Lebow statue (The New York marathon founder)
Here you have the Jaqueline Kennedy map with all parts and the location of the streets.
The Balvedere castle, is a gothic castle located close to a huge meadow, (The Great Lawn) surrounded by a baseball field.
The castle is in the central park highest point and from there you can see an incredible sight of the park.
Also, it has a weather station, which is the starting point for media communication.
Hope you enjoy your tour in Central Park as much as I do when I have the chance to spend few days in New York.
