In one of the trips I did to Brazil during seven days in the area of the Bay of Imbassí, I could visit Praia do Forte, a village 12 km o beautiful and turquoise beaches.
This village is only 60 km from San Salvador and near the hotel where I stayed Grand Palladium Imbassaí Resort & Spa.
When I visited the village, I felt that it wasn´t a normal fishing village, even more, it could be considered as an exclusive place with a rustic and relaxed atmosphere.
I must say, that although it is well known for its amazing beaches, other reasons why I decided to visit Praia do Forte were:
1) Castle Garcia D’Avila
This castle is located about 15 minutes’ drive from the village, and is considered as one of the main architectural works of the historical heritage of Brazil.
This castle has an ancient stone structure and was built in the 16th century on top of the hill Tatuapara.
Definitely one of the places where you can see reflected the Brazilian culture.
2) Sapiranga Reserve
Sapiranga Reserve is an ecological reserve created in 1992 by the state government of Bahia and a few minutes’ drive from Praia do Forte. This reserve consists of 600 hectares of incredible rainforest Atlantic with a varied nature.
There you can also find a zip line circuit, which you can enjoy if you like adventure. Other activities you can do are: hiking, biking and 4×4 routes.
3) Tamar Project
The Tamar project is a project for the protection of sea turtles in Brazil that has done during 1980 and where you can observe sea turtles in various stages of development as well as starfish, crabs, rays and sharks sandpaper.
The duration of the visit is about two hours and you can go walking or by minibus.
